Hiking

Chiavari is not only a city of sea and beaches, but like all the towns of the Ligurian Riviera, it is also a city of forests, cultivated areas and green hills. It is precisely thanks to its characteristic landscapes that it is possible to discover it through hiking trails in its immediate hinterland along the so-called ʺcreuzeʺ (creuza in the singular): a Ligurian dialect term for ancient communication routes, narrow lanes or mule tracks that cross the hills. Whether or not you are a hiking enthusiast, Chiavari offers a wide variety of breath-taking landscapes to discover, often by simply looking just beyond the walls of houses.

Beaches

Clear water, sunsets over the coast, the smell of the sea breeze and freshly baked focaccia in the morning... Chiavari is all this and much more. Along the spacious promenade there are numerous beaches of small pebbles, both free and equipped, where one can sunbathe in peace and quiet and swim in crystal-clear water. Chiavari's beaches are also narrow and protected by breakwater cliffs that mitigate the erosive action of the sea. They have repeatedly been awarded the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) Blue Flag, an award given to seaside resorts that respect the environment and guarantee clean beaches and sea, as well as offering numerous services.
