Sestri Levante

Sestri Levante, jewel of the Gulf of Tigullio, is known as ʺthe city of the two seasʺ because it stands on a rocky promontory that stretches out into the sea.
The town is united to the mainland by an isthmus, a thin strip of land that divides the two bays: Baia delle Favole, where the tourist port is located, and the smaller but even more picturesque Baia del Silenzio.
Every year Sestri Levante is the scene of various events such as the Festival della Favola, also known as the Andersen Festival, dedicated to the writer Hans Christian Andersen, who fell madly in love with these places, so much so that he was inspired to write some of his most famous fairy tales.
Not far from Chiavari, it can be reached by car along the Via Aurelia (via the SS 1) or the motorway (via the A12/E80), by train towards La Spezia, by bus or by ferry.
Sestri Levante is 15 minutes from Hotel Monte Rosa by car, about 10 minutes by train and 20 minutes by bus. Sestri Levante can also be reached from Chiavari by a boat and ferry service operating only in the summer months.
